Can Someone Explain The Flower Nail Trick To Me?

I would like to try this tomorrow to get my cake level when baking. I guess the flat part (the part where you make the flower) goes on the bottom of the pan and the "nail" part sticks up through the center??

Yes...you simply place the flower nail upside down in the center of your pan...I usually spray mine so it doesn't stick. Then you just pour your batter around the nail and the heat from the metal will help the cake cook evenly.

Yes, that is exactly right, it does work I baked a 14in round(my largest to date) and it baked perfectly but just make sure what ever you use for cake release to use it on the nail. Jersey huh , did you see the Soprano's?

Yes, basically it is upside down...make sure you coat it with whatever you coat you pans with before putting your batter in to avoid sticking. I use 3 flower nails on a 12X18 sheet cake. Depending on the size of your pan, dictates how many nails you will need.

BTW this works awesome, if you do get a little hump, place a clean towel over the top and gently push it down with your hands. Be careful of where you are puching, so that your flower nail doesn't go through the towel and burn you.

would one nail be enough for like a 12 inch pan ? or the more nails the better the cake comes out ? I've never tried this, but I will now..

This sounds much easier than the baking strips that I wrap around my pans. Can't wait to try it.

My 12" pan is 3" deep and I use 2 flower nails...if it were me, I would probably use 2 flower nails even with a 2" deep pan spaced out evenly.
