yes it is simple. i am going to do cornelli on the sides of each tier and then roses to conect each tier then a a small bunch of roses on top tier. they dont have a cake topper.

That sounds really pretty! I love wedding cakes...I wish I could do more!

Are you making royal icing for the roses, or will they be silk?

You have given her your price of $150.00, and that is not a bad price, but considering that you are making roses. You are doing cornelli lace, which really requires concentration not to touch the other strings, I really think that that the cake is worth $200.00 - $250.00. Next time you will be able to see just how much work went into it, and you can adjust your prices accordingly. I know it will be beautiful. Please post a picture.

Smart girl. You know they will stiff you. I was stiffed on a $400.00 wedding cake. I did not set the cake up until I saw cash on the day of the wedding. I now do not accept checks if it is less than 7 days before the wedding. You will do justj fine.

Good luck on the cake. I'm sure it will be beautiful, as all of your cakes are! I'm in a similar position except I did have 2 weeks' notice. This will be my first wedding cake as well. The girl called me last Wednesday or Thursday and her wedding is next Friday, the 7th. The thing is, when I told her how much, she started hemming and hawing, and then decided she didn't need as much cake, etc., etc., etc.. When I emailed her today to show her a couple of cakes and revised pricing since she decreased the amount of cake, she responded immediately to the email of the pictures but never responded at all to the email about the pricing. I told her since the cake was for next Friday, I needed full payment by this Friday, since I will have to travel over 2 hours this weekend to get the items needed for the cake next week. Still haven't heard from her and she's not finalized what she even wants! I'm about to say "forget it!"

Well, it is your call, but I don't think if I had to drive for 2 hours to buy supplies and still don't know whether or not she wants the cake. I think I would give her until the weekend and if no response, I then think I would say forget it.

Oh yeah - if I've not heard from her by Friday, I just can't do it. I don't have enough time as it is. As far as the driving 2 hours, my Mom lives in Memphis, and one of my kids has an allergy appointment Monday morning in Memphis, so that's the main reason we're going, but the store I buy most all of my supplies from is in Memphis. So either way, everything I get, I either have to take a trip to Memphis or pay the shipping charges, which most times is more expensive than driving! I just can't imagine anyone waiting till the last minute to order something like a cake for a wedding!

Believe me, it happens everyday. I have been doing this for the last 15 years, and I can tell you horror stories. They (brides) are very nervous and their emotins are all over the place, but as I tell them, just pay the deposits and the baker will take care of her part of the wedding. I try to make it as less a burden as I can, but sometimes, they will play ball and sometimes they won't.

I can't imagine someone waiting so long either!

Did you give her a deadline, like: I have to hear from you by this date or else I won't be able to do it?

Well, when I emailed her this morning, I told her I had to have the money by Friday, so that's pretty much a deadline. I figure if she doesn't pay, she gets no cake! HA! I didn't come out and say "you have till this day to let me know" because I just never dreamed I'd be in this position!

Well if she wants you to do the cake, she'll definitely let you know with money in hand. I guess she just might be hanging you on. I mean, it's not everyday that you can find a wedding cake decorator in a couple of days.

Good Luck! I hope everything turns out ok.

Actually heard from her tonight. Not exactly her, but the mother of my best friend, who is helping her with everything. She realized that the bride had not called and/or let me know what in the world she wanted to do, so she called me herself. Got the bride over to her house and together they decided what they wanted and will give me the $$ on Wednesday. Guess she's just got more important things on her mind than cake!

Yeah! I'd say she has a lot on her mind!!!! But, that's still very late to be "considering" a cake.

Anyway, glad everything is "settled". Let us know when you post a pic.

You should be sooooooo proud of yourself, this is simply elegant, and nice. I just love it. The cornelli lace is wonderful and I just love the scroll. You are on a roll. Keep up the good work.

Just wondering- pretty short notice on the cake. I'd be looking around the reception hall for a very serious father of the bride possibly holding a shotgun. icon_confused.gif

By the way your cake looks very yummy. icon_biggrin.gif
