I made white chocolate in a mold and want it to look like metallic gold. I painted it with dry gold lustre dust (gold green to be exact) and it's shiny, but looks nothing like metallic gold. It looks kind of beige with a sheen to it.

Then I tried mixing some of the lustre dust with vodka, but it just streaked when I painted it on the chocolate, leaving behind the same color but not at all even.

Anything I'm missing? Do I need to purchase a different gold? Any other suggestions?

I tried using MMF in the chocolate mold but it came out real messy (especially the back side) and it was hard to get it to fill the mold in all the corners without air pockets.

one time I made Chocolate truffles and I used 22K Edible Gold Leaf on top..they're kind of expensive, and they come in booklets, but it will give you the results you want . they are just not easy to handle,,very thin and will stick to your fingers, but the results you get is like "Gold Jewelry" made of chocolates icon_smile.gif

Oooh pretty cake, great idea. Project queen I was racking my brain the last few minutes trying to come up with something to tell you, but I think prettycake has it! And it's what Collette would do! I'm thinking of the cake she made for her parents 50th.
