Hi all! Well, here it is, the finished product that I've been stressing over and asking so many questions about! I am so proud of it! I think it turned out pretty good for my very first wedding cake, first stacked cake, first tiered cake, first royal icing roses. Please give me any feedback, constructive criticism, tips on what to do for improvements, etc. My sister-in-law went with me to set up and finish borders and flowers, and I am so glad she did! I found out I need to practice my leaves! I've really never done them before, so she ended up doing those for me and I think she did wonderful! We got so many compliments while we were setting up. People couldn't believe it was my first wedding cake. Okay, enough patting myself on the back. Sorry - I'm just so excited and relieved that it didn't come crashing down or something! Thanks so much to all of you here who so patiently answered all my questions and helped me out. There's NO WAY I could have pulled this off without you guys! icon_biggrin.gif Oh, btw, this design is one I found here on CC done by PaulaTraverso. I haven't seen her back on since it was posted by her, but if you're around Paula, thanks for the inspiration!!!

Okay, let's see if this works.....

Wow!!!! That looks so good! I love the ribbon at the bottom and your roses look great!!!!!

That's really something to be proud of!!!!!!

I don't know much about resizing, either...all I can do is crop & cut.

It looks beautiful! You did a wonderful job! thumbs_up.gif Don't apologize for patting yourself on the back - you deserve it, and I felt the same way after my 1st wedding cake 2 weeks ago! I'm sure I went on and on about it, but it's hard not to because really, it is such an accomplishment, isn't it? You just go ahead and keep on jumping up and down, I know you are! Way to go! icon_biggrin.gif

It is absolutely beautiful! You should be so proud. Very nice. Very professional.

On the resizing of photos....I thought they were suppose to take of something to where the photos would resize themselves. If they do not.... usually in your photo editor under image or tools there is a resize command. Just highlight the picture you want to resize then click on images then on resize. I find that 480 by 640 works well.

Again, Great Job!

Wow - that is fantastic! It looks absolutely gorgeous and professional looking! Congratulations! I'm stressing over my first wedding cake order in April, and I hope mine comes out half as beautiful as yours.

What kind of fondant did you use? I'm thinking of using MMF, but I'm not sure the finish is as smooth as real fondant, but whatever you used looks perfect!

Wow, that looks great! I like how smooth the rounded top edges are. Maybe more flowers in the middle, under the columns? But really it looks wonderful! You did a great job!

Thanks for all the wonderful compliments!

Pyxxydust - I used regular crusting buttercream and smoothed with Viva paper towels. No fondant used, but what a compliment you gave me! Thanks so much! icon_smile.gif

i_love_icing - Yeah, I agree. It needed more flowers in the center, but unfortunately, I didn't have any more made up, so I just had to make do with what I had on hand. But I'll know better for next time to have plenty of extras! icon_smile.gif

I love it - you did an amazing job for someone doing their first wedding cake, and even someone doing their 100th weddign cake - looks incredible! Seriously, NO ONE would ever know you ahd so many firsts with this cake. I love the bead work - nice lines! I dont' think my hand is steady enough for that! lol I was actually going to ask if it was fondant too - I can't beleive how smooth it looks! What's your trick?

Looks great and I would agree with the suggestion of adding more roses under the pillars. Just to get some more fullness. t

For the bead border, notice how you have points on the beads? You are still squeezing as you are pulling away. Stop squeezing then pull away. You can also correct this by using a slightly damp paint brush and patting them down.

But all in all, excellent job. It looks really nice.

Wow potatocakes! I am so proud of you. Don't stop patting yourself on the back, as a matter of fact, find some more people to help you out. That is fantastic! I actually like that there aren't more roses in with the pillars, it gives it an airy feel. Great job!!

Thank you so much everyone!!!

My "trick" to smoothing is actually what I learned from people here -- the amazing Viva papertowel! I used to try to do the hot spatula and could never get a smooth finish, or even close to one. But I LOVE the Viva trick! It's so funny - when I buy Viva, no one's allowed to use them as regular paper towels! I buy the cheaper Sparkle towels for the family, but only Viva's good enough for my cakes! icon_lol.gif
