Well, just wanted to let everyone know how it went!! It was very helpful and we actually made ALOT of changes from what we had on paper. It is dif. to have something to 'kinda' walk thru and see how it is going to work. But 400 sq. ft....seemed big UNTIL we staked it out and started measuring out all the equipment and where it would go!!! We were left scratching our head where any type of table would go!!!

I'm still sooooo excited. My contractor is taking our notes and drawings to an architecht on Wed....so I'm sure there are still changes going to be made.

But again.....I can barely contain my excitement!! We are FINALLY moving on the project and once we get all our building, hood vent, & grease trap permits.....construction will begin!!!

I'm so excited for you!! (And a little jealous... icon_razz.gif We won't be starting on our building, which will house my cake studio plus our landscaping business) until next month! grrrrr thumbsdown.gif LOL

I know what you mean about the 400sq ft sounding like plenty of room and then it shrinks when you start placing stuff within that 400 sq ft...lol. The other day I took a can of spray paint and walked over to where we've cleared the land for our building and sprayed on the dirt how big I want my kitchen!! LOL Then I drew out (with the spray paint) where the ovens would be, the sink, the work table, even the shelving so I could see how far out from the wall it will be...lol. Then I walked around in my little 'kitchen' to see if there was enough wiggle room between everything...lol. DH thought I was crazy when I told him what I did, but when he got home and took a look at it he thanked me! Said it really helped put it in perspective for him and he thinks he's gonna add another 150-200 sq ft so that I can have room for a small seating area (for tastings, etc.) and maybe even a place to put a counter up front near the door...so it looks more professional and I can have a sort of 'staging' area for pick-ups and finished orders.

It'd be great if you could take some pictures of the process once you get going with the construction so we can all see it from start to finish! So glad the ball is actually rolling for ya! thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif

JennT....that's awesome that you can 'increase' your area!! Unfortunately, I'm stuck w/working w/400 sq. ft. Although, I'm not going to complain too much....b/c that is better than what I have right now...NOTHING!! So I'll figure out a way to make it work!!

And I can't wait to start taking pics....I was going to this past weekend, but we have to move the building location quite a bit AND my little 'devil' child knocked down the stakes & rope!! icon_confused.gif Can't really blame him though....what two yr old can pass up running through rope!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh well, luckily it is easily fixable!!

On th e Ikea website they have a 3d kitchen planner that you can use to plan out a kitchen and get a visual from all angles, obviously you have to use their sizes for cabinetry but its useful just to get that visual.
