I would absolutely love to make my mom a basket with handle cake for Mother's Day. She would absolutely love it. I found a picture of the perfect one here on the forum. Can anyone PLEASE guide me in the right direction? The handle and lid have me completely stumped. Thank you so very much.

I haven't done it, but I thought you would do it with royal icing on a form, and when it dried, do the "back-side" with more royal.

Hopefully someone with more experience can help. If not, why don't you PM the cake creator. I remember whoever did this cake had a topic with all the instructions listed not too long ago.

I've never done it, but I've heard that this works: make a piece of fondant the size/shape that you want the lid to be and then you can do your basketweave on it after it dries.

The handle...I don't know if it can be done with fondant, but I do not that royal icing is often used to make a handle.

I have a handle in my pics... I did it with fondant and gum paste. I just molded it and let it air dry for a few days...

Hope that helps!

I thought about the possibility of emailing the person who posted the cake but I couldn't find a PM. I came up with the picture through the galleries and the PM isn't listed on that. Do you know of another way to to get it? I'm new at the forum, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much
