Cupcake Cake Tiers/stacked Help Please!!
Decorating By mmdd Updated 21 Mar 2006 , 12:27am by MsTamara
I was wondering if anyone has stacked cupcake cakes and made tiers out of them. Our boys are 1 year and 9 days apart, so we're still having their b-day parties combined. I would like to do a cupcake cake as a stacked cake.
I hope you all can follow this. I'm sure it's possible somehow, but just wondering if anyone has done this before?
TIA!!!!
I have not seen them stacked without using tiered cake plates or a cupcake tree. But I don't see why you couldn't stack them without a tree. Is that what you meant? I would guess you should at least use a crusting butter cream or even rolled BC to decorate. The biggest problem would be the icing sticking to the paper. You could bake them without the liners. That way you wouldn't have to worry about the icing sticking to anything.
Not much help - but I'll bump ya
I have stacked cupcakes - did it for my daughter's birthday last year, stacked a 'pyramid' of cupcakes on top of the cake. I didn't 'anchor' the cupcakes because I assembled everything on the table and it statyed there. I don't recall having any issues with the buttercream sticking on the liners - hope it helps.
Thanks for the help! I'd love to see a pic, if you have one, Jaxdesserts. That's pretty much what I was talking about.
Another idea would be a piece of the craft styrofoam that comes in differnt shapes. You could secure the cupcakes with bamboo skewers or toothpicks depending on the size of the cupcakes.

Here is a link to another site to purchase stackable tiers. I was thinking of ordering these myself.
