My daughter's 5th birthday is coming up and I've run dry of any unique ideas for her cake. I know it's going to be a beach/ Hawaiian theme because I have Dora figurines in swim suits standing on sand. I was thinking of doing a 9x13 cake with pyrex bowls on top to make mounds of sand I can put the characters on with the the water, an umbrella, palm trees, and bright pink flowers for the border... but I'm just not happy with it. Any ideas? I've done a google search and I've looked on the site for ideas and nothing's caught my eye.

I'm not sure if I'll be any help, but here it goes.
Ice your cake making it look like sea and sand(using light brown sugar).
Try making a flower lei and draping it casually on you 9x13 cake.
Put your figurines in one corner by the lei and a palm tree. Make the sides look like a bambo beach mat.
I hope any of these ideas help.
