What is the placement of initals on a wedding cake? First name of bride and groom ? Grooms Last inital, who comes first bride or groom? I have been looking at all these beautiful wedding cakes, and I haven't a clue to the order of placement. Thank you for your help.

I was just looking at a monogram cake in the gallery and wondering the same thing.

Ok, I just went and did a google search and found this:

For a couple it would be Her first name initial, Their last name initial then His initial.

For example: Jane Doe and Robert Doe JDR

For a single person it would be basically the same:

Jane Amanda Doe JDA

I think it is pretty common to have the middle letter (Last name initial) slightly larger than the others.

I believe with monograms the grooms initial is on the left, the bride on the right, with their last name initial larger in the middle, but I could be wrong, so don't put that on a cake just because I said so...second opinion please!!! icon_razz.gif

That what I'd assumed too tanya, typical "male comes first" stuff icon_rolleyes.gif

One of the sites I found when I did the google search was Things Remembered. They are in the business of selling a lot of engraved and monogramed things so hopefully they would know.

They said the woman's initial would be first, then last name, then his.

I edited my earlier post but thought I would add this at the bottom.

Yep, it's ladies first! 'Bout time!!!!

Just like on the wedding invitation, the bride's name is first.

You should have seen me trying to make my now DH understand this is just the way it is.

I did a wedding monogram last month and I'm not sure where but I was told that the groom's initial was first and the bride's was second. Of course the initial for the last name was slightly larger and placed in the middle.
