I didn't take the time to go through all the posts, so this may have been asked before. Has anyone ever made chocolate royal icing? If so, how did you do it. There is a pix in 1979 Wilton yearbook(pg. 67) of an easter basket made with chocolate icing and it says to cover the handle with Royal icing. I cannot find a recipe for chocolate royal icing though.
I would sure appreciate any help. I have also asked this on the Wilton Discussion Forum-so did someone else-but it has never been answered.
Thanks. Tabby
Hmmm....I'm curious to find this out too. I guess we could just try it with cocoa or candy melts or something like with buttercream.
Sorry I couldn't give ya an answer, but I'll give ya a bump.
I was looking around on the internet. This is one I found
Chocolate Royal Icing Recipe
I tried to make brown royal icing to decorate bear shaped cookies. But even with good quality food color paste, I couldn't get it dark enough. This was the answer.
1 lb powdered sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
7 tablespoons warm water
3 tablespoons powdered egg whites (meringue powder)
4 cups Change size or US/metric
Change to: cups US Metric
10 minutes 10 mins prep Hope this will help
Opps I see the recipie I posted was for cookies. MIght be a little thinner than needed not sure. But It looks like the answer is cocoa. Good luck
Great , thanks for the help. I think I'll try it with the cocoa and a little extra powdered sugar.
