Can a FBCT be put on the sides of a cake? I want to do some small ones to put on the sides of a cake I'll be doing in a couple of weeks. I haven't attempted a transfer yet so I have no clue if it would work on the sides!!
I would think they would. I'd want to be ready to work real fast so they'd be good and frozen still. That way, you could give them a little extra pressure as you placed them on the surface of the icing. I think I might use a non-crusting icing, too...so the surface of the cake would be extra "sticky."
I've done small ones on the sides and have had no problems. They stayed on really well.

Depending on the size of your frozen buttercream transfer I would suggest taping it on to a curve surface like the cake pan you used. This way it will not dry flat and break on you when you try to press it on to the side of the cake.
Thanks guys!

That's a great idea! I'm doing another death star cake for a friends little boy's birthday and want to put some small tie fighters on the side. So the trick will be practice, small, frozen and move quick!!
