I'd like to add some peppermint extract to the devil's food mixes I'll be using today but should I add it to the mix itself or to the icing? I'm thinking it should be in the mix, right? I don't want it to be overwhelming so how much should I add? 1 tsp per box? Too much? Too little? I love chocolate and peppermint together but lots of people don't. If I put it in the icing those who don't could scrape it off. What to do??? Help!

if you put it in the cake mix then it's more subtle i think. but like you said if some peeps don't like it put it in the removable part. and if it's the peppermint oil then only a drop or two will suffice if it's the extract than maybe a half to one teaspoon will do.
