Okay, tried a bunch of the advice you guys gave me last time.

I bought the Wilton icing in the can just to make sure I had the correct consistency for the roses and used that for my second practice. (P.S., it was mush by the end of the third practice rose).

I opened the narrow end of the 104 tip even more, I traced a dime on my flower nail, etc. etc.

I no longer have the frayed edges but I still don't know how to make the rose. I'm trying to understand the directions and I get that I should hold the bag at a 45 degree angle to the nail. But what do they mean about the bag at 4:30? I tried to understand that but if I put the end of the bag at 4:30 I am no longer at a 45 degree angle to the nail
Also, I am not able to hold the narrow part straight up if I am tilting the back of the bag.

Can someone please explain what this means?

by holding the bag at "4;30" the back end of the bag should be pointing kind of towards your right shoulder.(assuming you're right handed)hold your arm in against your side, 3:00 would be straight out to your right, so rotate it so it's pointing a little more towards your shoulder.keep your arm tucked against your side now for each petal, imagine you are making an upside down "U". if you can't take a class, try to get hold of an OLD wilton yearbook (like 1970'2) i think they were much better at illustrating how to do it vs. the new ones

Hold your flower nail in front of you and picture it with a face of a clock on it... Put your bag where 4:30 would be on the clock...The back of the bag should by pointing toward your right shoulder. Your arm should be resting on your side.

I used to tell my students to tuck their elbows to their sides ("No flapping chickens!") and hold the bag with the open end of it so that it was pointing at their right bra strap.
