I was ask to make a cake for 65 year old male car salesman who was let go from job after 24 years. He was given tickets to the zoo as a gift?!! (Poor guy) icon_cry.gif
So she wants a zoo/jungle theme cake with "crazy animals" and a saying something like, "released from the zoo" but she want me to try and come up with some thing better!? She said he told them **ck the zoo tickets.
So I thought I would make a banner with the Zoo name being, F. N. ZOO but thats all i got
Any help with design or saying? Cake is to feed 30-35 and she hates fondant, so all BC. But I think fondant decorations would be okay.
TIA

First off, poor guy. But i'm sort of clueless, your banner idea is cute. Somebody just posted a really cute animal cake today or yesterday. If you look under last uploaded you will probably see it. It seems like it was mostly buttercream except for some fondan accents. Good luck!

This is sooooooooo sad! I wouldn't make them a cake! Poor guy, he probably feels really bad right now and will feel even worse with a cake like what they want. Do you know this guy? Is he a friend of yours? Don't do it that would be soooooo mean!

This made me laugh! Firstly the guy gets the boot and then this woman dictates the icing to be used because SHE doesn't like fondant - eerrr, ok, but isn't the cake for this poor guy - jeez, some people! icon_rolleyes.gificon_mad.gif

This is a tough one. If you really wanted to go with the zoo theme then how about the zoo sign like you mentioned and then have a guy running and jumping away from the zoo shouting 'I'm free!' You could have him throwing torn up zoo tickets in the air.

(Of course, I say this without a clue of how to actually accomplish this)

NO sorry I wasn't clear. The client was a former co-worker of mine. She knows him, i don't, and she is having a retirement party for him. It was cleared with his wife, and lightly ran by him to make sure he was up for a retirement party since he's not really retiring. She said he's up for it..

personally i think they should send the company a big butt cake.

But for the man i wouldn't be comfortable with the zoo theme as that just seems like a slap in the face to him. Have a talk with your friend and let her know that. I think i would just do a nice cake probably with seasonal fruit on top, but at least something nice and elegant.

OMG. Poor guy. What a horrible company. I agree with everybody, doing a zoo theme cake would just be rubbing salt on his wounds. I think the cake should have a cheerful, upbeat theme(like the hobbies he can now pursue) and this horrible tihngs should only be slightly mentioned (just torn zoo tixx in the corner) or better, not at all. Why make the pooor guy feels worse than what he already feels?

OK, I agree with really doing a nice retirement cake. It would probably make him feel better.

However if you have to do the zoo theme, how about a sheet cake with a car on top of it. Having the car leaving zoo tickets in its wake (with tire tracks on the tickets), and the license plate reading "F U ZOO"

You could always have the car driving toward a stand-up rainbow with the words happy retirement on the rainbow.

Wow, that was a lot, but in my head it looks pretty nice.

Good luck!
