What Would You Do If You Were Me?

Ok, all you creative thinkers out there! I'm making a grooms cake in a couple weeks (the wedding cake too, but that's not the problem) and it is to be a small, 10" yellow cake with lemon filling and chocolate frosting. Just so happens to be my favorite cake as well. The groom's mother placed the order and when I asked how she would like it decorated, she said "Oh, you could have it say 'Anthony's Cake' or something. You could have fun with this one." So now I'm stumped. I was thinking a basketweave, maybe some candied lemon peel...and now I've got to write on it? What would YOU do for this cake?
Funny you mentioned the name Anthony. Look at a cake I did for a 22 year old. I used his initials on it. I thought it look very much like a grooms cake instead of the birthday cake it was suppose to be. It was chocolate fondant and really rich... would go well with yellow and lemon.
If this is a groom's cake, can you ask what he likes - activites, hobby. This way the cake can be directed to him. A basketweave is nice but to me it would be more for a women type of cake. Most grooms cakes I have seen do not have any writing that is why they are done something in the way the groom likes. I hope this helps, good luck. Look forward to seeing the final cake.
I agree with leana, find out what he's into...hobbies, sports, etc....direct the cake to something that relates to him. I did a grooms cake in February of a mountain with a stream...the groom had grown up camping, riding motorcycles, jeeping, etc....good luck!!!
