I tried the Wilton Whipped Ready Mix icing today and I didn't like it at all. icon_sad.gif Should I have added a little flavoring to it? I'm not a big fan of whipped icing so I think I will stick to buttercream from now on.

Has anyone else tried this icing? How do you like whipped icing?

Elin, whipped topping is a frosting, or a topping that is light and fluffy, and tastes out of this world.

you can find it in bakeries in the states, here in Europe (though its not as good here) and in grocery store bakeries... do you have reddi-whip topping? Cool Whip topping? Richs Whipped Topping? in your grocery stores? It's pretty much that idea, but stablized, and great great great. Here are links to the products mentioned so you can see what I mean.

its the white stuff on top of the desserts on Rich's site.
Really great tasting.... at least all I have tasted....

Well I tried a different whipped icing using Cool Whip and it DID NOT TURN OUT GOOD! The recipe was for a whipped icing using PS, milk, 1 pudding mix and 1 tub of Cool Whip and it was sooooo runny - I had to pour it on the cake and it did not set up even after refridergation. I do not recommend that recipe at all.

yeah it sounds like to me that it would have been....I guess the recipe didnt call for stablized whipped topping?? I thought it was the same thing before and when I tried to icing a cake with it, it turned out great but of course since it wasnt the same thing, and I didnt do anything with it, it just dissolved and that was it..... I was so upset... now years later, I know better! icon_smile.gif

i always add extra flavor to anything that's store-bought. they don't care about flavor, just how much money they make selling their product.

I used the Wilton brand once to fill cupcakes because I needed it to be able to sit out for awhile. It tasted OK- not bad, not great. I'd rather use the stuff I normally use Frosting Pride (a non-dairy whipped icing product).

Dawn
Where do you purchase Frosting Pride? I would love to try it especially if its better than the Wilton Whipped Icing.

It's much better... Unfortunately you cannot get it in Georgia. It is very similar to Rich's though, many Sam's and BJ's carry it.
