Hi,
Ok, how do you all put your fondant/gumpaste bows together?? I put one together with royal icing, but it looks sloppy in the middle.. I hate the sloppy look.. icon_cry.gif Any tips on how to hide the icing??I am talking about the loopy bows..Are there any tricks to this, that you wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks everyone in advance!!

Are you talking about the glue? If you are, I just brush it with Vanilla extract. Seems to work very well.....and that's what My wilton instructor suggested.

Hi JoAnne,

I use candy melts and i color them to the same color as the bow. I will do one layer of the bow and put it in the freezer for a few minutes and it will get hard fast then I do the next layer of the bow. I think with the chocolate used as glue you don't have to use as much as you would royal icing, and then it wouldn't show as bad. Just my two cents.

I've used both royal and candymelts. The candymelts worked better for me.

I use royal icing. Make sure you have your loops tightly placed. Step away from the bow and look at it. As our own worst critics - we tend to see all the imperfections VERY clearly. Look at it as if you were at a party - is it really noticeable? See my pixs for an idea of tightness. Good luck. You can see a bit of the inside but no one that saw the bow even noticed. Another idea is to put little sprigs of toule in between the loops - cut out a small circle of toule - pull from the center to form a small puff and attach to a pick - then place that in between any loops that show the inner (glue) icing.

Thanks, I am going to try it again..I think Your right about being our own worst critic, because I make a bow and it looked pretty good, then I ripped it apart, because it wasn't perfect..By the way I checked out all your bows and they all look great!!!!!!Thanks alot..
