Post your WORST cake!! - Page 2

I have definitely done worse than this, but our computer crashed last Thanksgiving and I lost all my crappy cake pictures. I did this baseball as a practice cake for Father's Day. Luckily, my father-in-law had already bought a cake and a pie, so it wasn't necessary for me to recreate this disaster. You can see the cake plug from the heating core sinking down in the middle. This is also before I discovered Cake Central and the paper towel trick.

Heeeee! I don't know how to copy it here but my worst is my wedding cake I did 22 years ago and it's in my album. It's titled "I've come a long ways baby!" Funny thing is, I don't remember being too upset about it....even though buttercream is oozing out between the layers of cake and I did no side work at all on it....just layed some buttercream roses on top of the cakes. Hey, I did the best I could with the knowledge and experience I had at the time! (Some of these cakes y'all are showing look pretty darn good to me...I think that baseball cake is great!)

My worst cake was where I put the Wilton House on top of a sheet cake and it fell over night. I don't have a picture I didn't want to be reminded of what happened. But the worst cake I ever had was my wedding cake, I was so excited to see my cake when I was at the hall decoarting, in came the cake, it was burnt you could see through the white frosting icon_cry.gif We tryed to cover it with roses it worked for pictures, then came the cake cutting time, we broke the knife trying to cute it, needless to say the whole cake went into the garbage. Luckly I had a large chocolate grooms cake that everyone ate.

The worst thing about this hideous cake is that I didnt make it that long ago, so no excuses here : ). My uncle loves soccer, i borrowed the wilton sports ball pan from a friend and baked a mudcake. I assembled it and then realised i didnt have enough time to ice it in buttercream so out came out the fondant. And this was the result. The fondant was too heavy and squashed it. I was so embarrassed. It looks like a ball that's being deflated. I had to take it to his birthday party and all the guests must have been shocked. I've never baked in one of these pans again!!! But i will, i will try again when i get my courage back icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

can i post my entire gallery...i think all my cakes are the "worst" ones. but i think the worse one i did was either my tiger or this monster looking thing, it was my first attempt at MMF, can't believe i'm gonna put the monster thing on here, but i guess i'm becoming a little more "shameless" around my friends... also, my very first attempt as a decorated cake. it was supposed to be a football in greenbay packer colors...looked more like a big easter egg to me icon_biggrin.gif ok this thing won't let me post here, for some reason, guess you have to be smarter than the forum...so i'll put them in my gallery

Okay here it is, the worlds ugliest Christmas cake. I had made cookies, cupcakes and a ton of other goodies to sell at a Holiday craft fair, but I needed (so I thought) just one more cake. I thought the yellow border would accent the poinsettias nicely. What was I thinking????? That is the most putrid yellow ever!!! dunce.gif The funny thing is that, it was the first cake sold.

I'm new to all aspects of cake baking and decorating. Thank Goodness I found this site. Love it. My worst cake was just the other day. Just fooling around. I made a 9 x 12 vanilla cake that separated from the sides a good 1/2 inch and was very crispy and it also had a hump. I remembered reading on CC to put a towel on top of it to level it. Did that, but it made it extremely dense and flat. I then proceeded to hack off the crispy sides which pretty much took 1/2 of the cake. I decided to cut it in 1/2 and stack it. I filled it with too much chocolate buttercream which then kept squirting out the sides so when I tried to frost the sides and top, well, I ended up with a marble effect. It was uneven and because of the chocolate buttercream, the top kept sliding off. Thank Goodness it tasted good and my Hubby has a sweet tooth. icon_lol.gif

I'm VERY new to cake decorating, so I have some recent disasters.

The worst one was the time I thought it would be a good idea to make petit fours for something at my church. Yeah, I decided to make them for the first time to take somewhere.

I cut the cake up and iced it in buttercream - which was a real mess. But then came the poured fondant. Something went wrong - it was way too thin. It tasted like sugar water, which I guess is what it is, but when I poured it on the cake it became a lumpy, bumpy, mushy mess.

I only poured it on a few. When I saw that it wasn't going to work out, I put the rest of the cake in the freezer and ate it with my family and friends.

Luckily I had another cake mix in the pantry so I was able to make a Mardi Gras cake for church. icon_lol.gif
