I see alot of diamond patterns here.. like on the pillows and things like that. They are all so perfect.... SURELY you guys aren't freehanding them? Is there some impression tool or mat that you use? And if it is a tool or mat, do you 'stamp' it on the fondant BEFORE you put in on the cake or after?

Hints would help!!

I've seen impression mats. You roll out the fondant to the size you need, then roll it on the impression mat, then put it on the cake. I've seen people freehand. I have also seen some that look like cookie cutters and you just press it into the sides or where ever it's needed. Very cool look. I haven't done it yet, but will for my daughter's Bday - she wants a tiara!

I have made that look in BC before just using a plastic ruler and laying the side of it into the side of the cake and using a little pressure making the imprint.....and it works pretty well
