Help! What can I use in place of a heating core?

a flower nail, just coat it like you would you pan, put it in the center of the pan, flat side down and pour in the batter.

I just used the flower nail method for the first time last night. It was great!

What shape of pan are you trying to bake with?

I never use a core..And I have no problems.

How dumb am I? I put the nail the other way and no wonder it sunk! I had did it luckily it filled back in! I'm waiting on my heating core. I may have to try that for my Shrek cake since it a bit deep. Thanks for the tip!
