Do pound cakes have to made in loaf pans? Has anyone ever tried to make pound cakes for a layer cake? Also, can sponge cakes be made in any pan as well? If so, how do you adjust temp or baking time if both pound cake and sponge cakes can be made in different pans?

Yes, yes, and it depends on the pan and the amount of batter in it!

I have never made a pound or sponge cake in a loaf pan LOL and I have made them every time I make a 3 d cake....they bake just fine, they don't seem to go as far...so I usually use twice the batter.....and as far as cooking time....when i start smelling the cake I check on it and depending on how wet the center is I can gague when it might be done and just do the toothpick test until it's finished. I leave the temp. alone though....they usually call for 325 degrees and that's what I do...but they do take a while to cook usually an hour or more
