Michelle Bommarito was on that show, she is a decorator from Michigan, She teaches gumpaste private lessons and at the cake shop in my area. She does really nice work, she has a website also. My question, the classes are $53 for 2 hours on Wednesday for 2 wks; she gives private lessons for $125 per hour or session. I like the idea of private lesson, but would a classroom setting be better. what do you guys think.

I would think that would depend on wether you do better in a one on one situation or would you do better in a class atmosphere....me personally, I'm a class sort of person. Somehow I do better because all the attention isn't focused on me and what I'm doing, but some people do much better having very personalized attention. Which ever way you think you would learn the most, go that route.

Well, it is a lot more expensive for a private lesson; however, if you take a class you may end up going over stuff you already know, and spend time waiting for other people to finish so you can move on to the next project (this is what happened to me in the classes I took), whereas, if you are being taught privately, she will be able to go at your pace, and you will probably be able to learn more.

Thanks melissa & cindy for replying. I think i'll go with the class for the participation of others. They may have questions or suggestions I could benefit from as well. Hope it will be worth the money. Trying to do gumpaste on my own -- I was not successful.
