I have this idea that I want to make a dirty diaper cake (dirty not naughty!) for a friends baby shower on Monday. I'm stuck though as how to go about it. Any ideas?

That's a great idea! Unfortunately I'm not that experienced yet, nor do I have the time I think that would take me.

well hun you could just stack some 8" cakes for the pail and make the "diapers" out of fondant and paint the "poopy" on them.
You could make the fondant with the recipe her on the site for Marshmallow Fondant (MMF) All it takes is a bag of powdered sugar, a bag of mini marshmallows some water and flavoring. If you don't have brown food color you could make some by mixing red and green together.

Don't forget to add a little "Yellow" to the diapers, as well. I don't know if you think this would be naughty, but you could soften tootsie rolls in the microwave for just a few seconds to make them pliable, then shape them into the desired shape. It's just a thought, I'm sorry if that's not what you were thinking of.

That's great! Love the tootsie roll idea.

When I say dirty, not naughty, I just meant not to interpret my dirty as being naughty in a sexual way. Did that make sense? I'm confusing myself. LOL I guess I should just call it a poopy diaper cake!

Anyway...I'm still thinking this through, but the tootsie roll idea is perfect!

Ok then, I should share with you that the idea was actually my husband's. 2 weeks ago, I did my first naughty cake of a woman's butt and he dared me to put a tootsie roll in between her "Cheeks" under the panties. When I told that to the customer, they were laughing like crazy saying they wished I had done it! Talk about EWWWWW!!!

Seriously tho', I have molded softened tootsie rolls into handles of a chocolate teapot and tea cups before it works pretty well. Or add a little cocoa to your Marshmallow fondant works, too.

you could also use a 9x13 pan.(depending on the size of a cake you would need go larger) take the rectangle and cut it in the shape of an open diaper laying down on the table. outline the edges with black or grey icing and then fill in with white. then for the messy part, put a streak of brown then a streak of yellow and then a streak of green in the middle. once you have them all in a row take a toothpick or a butterknife and swirl it a little to kind of mix them together but not to much so you dont ruin the colors. you could probably squirt just a little hershy's syrup in there for a little runnyness....lol. hope this might help out a little. oh and on the tootsie roll thing they work well melting them down especially in a kitty litter cake. they look so real. melt them a little and give them a twist. snickers give great effects too, if you can figure that one out....lol. it is really nasty as a gag to do that in adult underwear..lol

You guys are great! Such awesome ideas!

Now don't be too disappointed in me, but I decided to go the more traditional route and make an ABC block cake. I was running out of time and needed to make sure I had something I knew would look good.

The joke was on me though, because we were going to have the baby shower today and she went and had the baby this morning! I guess we will all be eating cake at work today!

Again, thanks for the great ideas. I will be making one of these some day!

Actually, it just gives you more time to try the diaper cake, right? I imagine you might plan on rescheduling the shower for another date? She should be able to appreciate the dirty diaper cake more by then, right? Cuz, she'll be living it! Congratulations!!! ~~Tammy
