Hi there!

I am in the process of doing a Yoda sheet cake and I'm stuck. I am done with the Yoda part but I think I messed up with the flat coating. I was trying to get the effect of a horizon/fiery background. I can't figure what sort of border to put on it or how to finish it off really.

Any and all ideas needed and wanted!

Thanks in advance!

PS- Yoda will be holding a glow stick for his light sabre.

You could stripe your piping bag with orange or red and add gold icing to the bag to get a fiery effect on a border.

If you want more fire as a border, you can think back to Wilton class and stripe you bag as if you were going to make those little clowns, only use fire colors, and instead of a traditional border you can have flames just by pulling out as you would to make leaves, but I'd use a star tip for fire!

I like the idea with the striped bag...also maybe use a star tip, starting on top, dragging it over the edge at different lengths. Kinda like flames spilling over the sides. On the bottom half, I'm not sure...

I'd just go with the bottom border. That picture is so great I wouldn't want to take away from it. I love the glow stick idea!

Bottom border? You mean along the cake board and not along the top edges, right? Man, I can't believe how stumped I am on this one!

That's what I pictured anyway! He's really cool, once the glow stick is on there it's not going to need anything else!

First of all, I love how unique this cake is. I kind of like it without the border around it. I agree on the bottom border only. Maybe stripe your bag with fire colors, start at the bottom edge & make fire up the sides just to the top edge. That way the cake gets the finished look you want without taking away from Yoda too much. Hope I made sense...its getting kind of late for me icon_lol.gif

you can also use a leaf tip for flames and stipe the bag using yellow and orange

Okay, here is the finished cake. I used the leaf tip for the flames and a little star tip for the shell border. I shoulda listened and not but it on. i ran out of the original gray so I made some more which of course was darker....sigh.....I'm not really happy with how it turned out but it's late,I 'm tired, so it will have to do!

Thanks to everyone who helped out!

Oh-My- Lord!!! The name is wrong, it should be Taylor, not Tyler! Another prime reason why I prefer to write on the cake board and NOT the cake! Sheesh......I'm going to bed, I'll fix it in the morning! icon_cool.gif

I agree, this cake is cool without the border. You can use the tip 352 for flames (its the leaf tip) going up the sides but I'm not sure I'd use a border at all.

You did a great job on this cake. I originally thought the border all around would take away from Yoda, but you made it thin enough that it compliments the cake nicely.

Hey everyone, THANK YOU for all of your help last nite. I have finished the cake and corrected the name (whew!) and it is now posted in the gallery.

Funny thing is that when I sat down to ask to help it was around midnight here. My hubby said to me that I would have to wait until tomorrow to get answers so I might as well go to bed. I laughed and said uh-unh, I will get responses within moments, after all this is a world-wide thing! lol! Sure enough that is exaclty what happened!

So, a collective (((((((HHHUUUUUGGGG)))))))) to everyone on here, you are all great!!!

Thanks again!
