I have never done it before but I think you take fondant and roll a long rope and then make it flat and then roll it . M

I have made them out of royal icing. I used tip 103, I think.

Hi Southerncake,
I know that this is a lot later than you need it but I figured you or some one else might need it for a later time. I actually didn't know what you were talking about the first time I read your topic but today I pulled out one of my Wilton books and started reading all the things they had in it about fondant. I am just starting my third Wilton class and since it's about fondant I'm paying more attention to the sections in books that contain fondant tips and ideas. Well to get to the point, I opened the book directly to the fondant ribbon rose. I was just going to scan and attach the page to this reply but I don't know if it's possible with this forum. The best I can do is write out the steps for you without the pictures.

Fondant Ribbon Roses:

1. Roll out 1/8 inch thick strip of fondant 2 inches x 5 inches.
2. Begin rolling lightly from one end, gradually loosening roll as flower
gets larger. You will be rolling three complete turns. Cut off end and
fold edge under.
3. Trim flower so it is 3/4 to 1 inch high.

If I find out how to attach pictures in this forum then I'll do it. But for now I hope this helps.

Thanks everyone!

Amy -- that is exactly it. I ended up just using trial and error. I thought that it would have to be harder than it looks, but it really wasn't!

Thanks for all the help!!
