I must congratulate you on your nerves (and hands) of steel. I have never been in this type of situation, but I don't think I could have pulled it off as successfully as you. And by the way, the cake is stunning!

You're my hero!. I think we'll all remember this story when the pressure is on and we're feeling stressed. We'll just be like 'cakepro'. Oh, and I'll be the first to put in my order for an image system. Good luck in the lottery!

You should write novels for a living. Or better yet, novels about the unexpected excitement of cake decorating!!

Thanks for a great story.

Cakepro, you are amazing! Wow is all I can say about your work and speed!

But there is another reason I have to reply to this forum - since you were my inspiration two days ago!
As you can see I'm a newby and I have no knowledge or experience in cake decorating. But on friday my very dear boyfriend had the last game of a league with his basketball team and I wanted to make them a big cake or two for the party. Everything ok for now - just first I thought the game was on saturday as usuall and than when I found out it's on friday I was going to bake the cakes thursday evening and just decorate them on friday afternoon - didn't quite work out since we had some collegues from work on a dinner on thursday and we finished everything pretty late - about 1 o'clock. We fell asleep afterwards and so on friday I had nothing done!
Thought than I could finish my job a little earlier but that didn't work out eather so I came home at 4 o'clock in the afternoon and had to bake 2 cakes, make buttercream and than make the buttercream transfer, make the fondant from scratch, make the both creams for the filling of the two cakes and put everything together. - Until the evening when the game ended...

I probably never would've thought I could make it if hadn't read your post here - than I thought to myself - if she did all that in just 3 hours I might just give it a try! And I made it!
I baked 3 cakes (the ball is two colored in the middle) and two fillings, made my first fondant, first buttercream and first buttercream transfer that was in the freazer for only 1-2 hours since I was in a hurry... I "prayed"as well for the FBCT to be ok after such sort time in a fridge and it really was! "God" must have a sence of humoricon_wink.gif
It was done in time and I even had time to clean the kitchen before the game ended - at first I wanted to watch it as well but had no car to go there and boyfriend had to be there at 7 pm already... The cakes were completly done somewhere between 8:30 and 9pm...

The cakes are far from being proffesional as yours - but that's not to be expected - they were my very first decorated cake ever...

Cakepro - You are my inspiration!!! What an amazing job in such a short amount of time. I too, get stressed when I have a whole day or more, much less a few hours. icon_eek.gif Like others have said, this is a true sign of a professional. What a beautiful cake!

tortica - good for you! It's hard enough trying something new, let alone doing several of them at once with time constraints. thumbs_up.gif
