Im doing Darth Vader today. My questions are first on the Darth Vader Cake do I do the piping gel first then the stars?? And you die it with the icing colors correct?? Ok 3 Questions LOL. Last I cant fit 2 cake boxes in my refrigerator will Darth Vader cake be ok on the counter in the cake box??? The parties are tommorrow. The icing is Wilton Chocolate icing died black for Darth Vader.
Please Let Me Know,
Thanks,
Melanie
i don't know about the gel ?? but i have left my cakes out over night with no problems, just be sure to cover them so the pets, if you have them, don't get them. my cat (and hubby) loves to nibble on them in the middle of the night when i'm not around. hope this helps a little. can't wait to see the cakes.
I have never frozen my decorated cakes...I leave them set out in a cake box and I put the box in a trash bag and it stays fresh for days.
Ok to leave on the counter.
As for the piping -- I'm assuming that you are talking about outlining details- if so, yes, do the outlining first. I always outline with buttercream, have never used gel. When you pipe the stars, get as close to the outline as possible without piping over. This give it a crisper finish that looks very professional.
Piping the outline over the stars looks tacky to say the least.
Hope this helps.
Hi!! The Piping Gel Is for the Eyes and Mask Of Darth Vader The rest is all stars. So Im curious if I do it first. Also If I just die it black with wiltons black??
Thanks,
Melanie
you can leave your cake out for two to three days your order question I always do my piping first. Hope this helps.
