I made muffins sized cupcakes for a wedding, I charged about $2.25(AUstralian) which is about $1.65US, but after seeing how much work they were i would charge $4.00 each now.

For cupcakes cakes with around 24 cupcakes, I usually charge $25 to $30. If they want a little more detailed decoration I would charge more.
Compare what size cake you would make using the same amount of batter and how much you would charge for that. You are going to use the same amount of batter, and slightly less icing so I'd charge around the same price. You still have the added expense of the cupcake papers.
