Is it okay to use your mixer when you are coloring your buttercream icing? I usually do it by hand, but sometimes it just takes too long!
I do it all the time. Except for when I need to color only two tablespoons of icing but for anything larger than that I always use my mixer.
I've been thinking about using my "motor" mixer (you know, the tall skinny ones for drinks, etc.) it sure would be a lot less trouble to clean. LMK what you think! Janice
Hey veeyjaytx, I bet that would work really good for small amounts of icing. If I have to color a large batch of icing I use my stand mixer, if it's a medium sized batch of icing I use my hand mixer, and if it's a small amount of icing I do it by hand.
hey Janice, what a great idea! I've got one of those hand held thingys that mixes with a blade and haven't used it in years ~ now that you made mention to this why wouldn't it work? It would surely mix the color in faster than I could do. Thanks for the tip!
I've had mine for a while too, without using it much! My (grown) children had gotten it as far as my car for me to get rid of it...fooled them though!
After they went back to Florida I brought it back in, so now I have justification for keeping it! Janice
I have one as well. Probably had it for about 10 years and never used it. I knew there was a reason why I held on to it.
