Hi everyone,

My son, (who is a senior), will be playing in a spring concert next month as a part of a fund raising for a teacher at his school who is stage 4 breast cancer.
There will be a spagetti dinner before the school concert and my son asked me to bring a large cake for the dinner.
I would love to help, but I really need ideas for the cake. He never had this teacher, so he really dosen't know what she likes, his band teacher told me to do whatever I want, but my son wants it to be very nice.
Any ideas? Anyone?
All I know, is that it will be a full size sheet cake.

Thanks,
mcginnis

Being it is a spring concert, how about simple shell borders on top and bottom edge, and a bouquet of flowers at one of the corners. As far as any sayings, am at a loss as to what you would put.

Could you maybe put some musical notes on it? Here are a couple that maybe you could work with:

I'd go for taste and simple elegance in this case. I like the idea of a cake with spring flowers already given. My answer for a generic cake (if I'm at a loss as to how to decorate and have the freedom to choose) is to do my chocolate cake with chocolate almond buttercream and chocolate dipped strawberries because the cake is always a hit. Easy cake to decorate; looks elegant; tastes great.

I agree with LisaMS - I'd definitely do chocolate - more of a dessert type cake instead of decorated so much - not to say that you can't decorate - maybe simple chocolate roses or other items (music notes, etc.) of chocolate.

Edited to say now that I've read the *whole* post (SORRY!), I'd do a pink ribbon cake - something related to fighting cancer - maybe a large pink ribbon in the center and something like "joining together" (which is part of the SGK logo) in love (support) for Mrs. whoever.

Does he know what subject the teacher teaches? I would related it to whatever subject she teaches. That might give you the opportunity to narrow it down and get some more ideas flowing.

How about keeping it simple with some lovely spring flowers and putting the Breastcancer symbol in the centre of the cake, seeing as this is what you are fundraising for.

I know I got the whole logo there but the pink ribbon is the main symbol used for fundraising globally.

Just thinking also, back in October I think it was, we had a National Breast Cancer Awareness month and there were loads of things on sale to fund raise, most things were graduated shades of pink.

Thanks everyone for your ideas,

I think I have it narrowed down to two ideas now, That's better than none!
I like the breast cancer logo idea and the music idea with the red roses that charlieinMO sent me.

I will double check with my son, because I'm pretty sure that he said that there was another cake being baked also, (this is open to the whole town), and that it was pink. I'll have him check to see if they are using the ribbon symbol, and if they are, I will do the music/red roses.

Thanks!
