OK, I've heard great things about the Americolor icing gel so I bought two colors. Red Red and Terra Cotta. I couldn't get either color to turn out. Am I suppose to let the color set in for a few minutes?

I saw another member who used the red Americolor and her cupcakes were beautiful.

Can anyone provide some tips on making the perfect color?

It will take more than one drop of the gel to color the icing. It does get darker the longer you let it sit!

Thanks Amy. How long do you let yours sit?

I let my icing sit for at least 20 minutes. The icing also darkens the longer it sits on your cake too. Just experiment with a bit. I add enough gel color just until the "pink" goes away then I let it sit.

The super red also makes a more true red I have found.
