How do you guys make cake dummies with the Great Stuff spray??

I've tried today by lining an old cake pan with aluminum foil and then waxed paper, but the stuff didn't expand too much and it was all lumpy and then I couldn't get the paper off of it....
I guess I'm just going to buy the dummies at the store.

I built a wooden frame roughly 10 x 13 x 3". The first time I didn't do anything special. I put it on a small slab of plywood, sprayed the foam in (2 small 6oz can's and as expected it stuck to the wood. Broke the mold, because I wasn't thinking right, trying to get the dummy out of it. Thank GOD someone was bright enough to give me as a "gift" some Ginsu knives a few years ago. I knew they'd come in handy some year. I had to cut the dummy out of the mold, or what was left of it.

The second time, after I glued, biscuited and nailed the frame back together, I sprayed the mold and plywood with spray adhesive and put down wax paper. It took a while to dry, maybe at least 3 days each time, so it's not very time effeicient. BUT, it's cheap enough, since the 6oz cans cost me $.75 on clearance at Home Depot.

Ouch! I got robbed! I got a can at Walmart for almost $5... And I don't think it's working (still drying) because the bottom is not smooth, it's got lumps all over it and it didn't double in size as the can said it would!! icon_razz.gif
I guess I'm switching to shaped styrofoam.

You will have lumps, and even with it drying for 3 days + it still might not be totally cured. The wax paper will keep it from usring un the underside most likely.

This is NOT a cheap way to go about having ckae blanks, it's just the way I decided to go about it, because I'm used to coming up with my own solutions. Even if buying something might be cheaper, at least I tried.
