I kind of have an idea of what I want to do-it will be heart shaped-3 tiers-I have 2 pictures of the happy couple from the daughter-she wants both on the cakes-doesn't matter which layers-but I have already figured out which one they go on (I think..) My problem is this-I am thinking of using pillars between the bottom and the 2nd layer then putting the top directly ontop of the 2nd (no pillars)-I would love to have GOLD on it-not WILTON GOLD colored icing-but lustur dust or something to look truly gold. I have the edible pearls and want to put them in the border but not sure exactly what I want to do after that....need input please!!! How do you think the picture would look on the bottom layers?

here's an idea i just saw at my local cake supply store

separators that you can wrap photos around (includes a clear cover to protect photos.

maybe this would be more workable then image on cake.

new separators

Have you thought about using gold leaf on the cake. It is truly gold. Collette Peters has a 50th annivery cake in her book "Collette's Cakes" pg. 127 that has a bunch of gold and has a picture of the couple standing between the tiers. I don't know if I could copy it and post it. I would not want to violate any copyright laws.

People have told me this would make a great 50th year anniversary cake with images of the couple's 50 years together.

These are all great ideas-I will let the daughter know and let her decide which she likes best. I have never used gold leaf but sounds like a very interesting idea!! Thanks for the info and input! Very much appreciated!

Just did a 50th Anniversary cake recently.....used ivory BC and darkened the ivory with added yellow for the secondary color. Used gold luster dust on the fondant "pearls". Roses were fresh/ivory. There's a photo of it in my photo gallery if you want to take a peek.

I really like that Phoov-I like the ribbon effect. I will add it to the others to show the daughter-we might borrow a few ideas! Thanks again for sharing!
