Fondant - Its Bark Is Worse Than Its Bite!

Hi there! I made my first fondant covered cake last night in class and expected it to taste bad. This morning I cut it and I actually liked it! I had heard so many people say it tasted bad so I expected the worse. My husband doesn't like it, but I thought it tasted pretty good. I frosted it with the Snow White Buttercream first. I had put about a tsp of Vanilla in the fondant too. Fondant---- GOOD!
I like it too. Not the MMF, that is too sweet, but the recipe I use is very good.
Most people I find do not like it. You can't beat the look it achieves.
Which kind of fondant did you use? I love the way MMF and Satin Ice taste! I expected Wilton fondant to taste worse, since I heard it was so bad.....when some extract is kneaded in, I don't think it is TOO horrible....just nothing to really want to keep sneaking bits of, that's for sure! But the Satin Ice and MMF I could just eat plain!
I agree it looks beautiful - I actually have clients who don't mind paying extra because they like the way it looks. Personally I don't like the taste of the Wilton fondant but do like the MMF.
I actually used the Wilton fondant. I am going to try the Satin Ice and MMF soon. I can't wait!
