It's only the classic but I love it! He brought it home, I hugged and kissed him, took it out of the box and baked a cake!

Do you like to do icing in it? My DH got me one for Christmas! I haven't gotten adjusted to making buttercream in it yet! I am used to having the large glass pan to go with it - so I have plenty of room to add ingredients to the mixture! With the KA there it is deeper - so I don't have as much room to add ingredients ... and also the powdered sugar makes a mess with the KA and didn't so much with my Sunbeam! I am going to have to keep playing with it to get to like it - considering the fit I pitched - wanting it for Christmas! Let me know if you have any tips/secrets on doing icing in it! (P.S. I kept my Sunbeam - and if there is ever a time when I do icing and my hubby isn't around I may use it!!!) Thanks! Ann

Doing the icing was tricky and it took longer because I'm not use to it yet. You are right about the bowl not being as wide but I guess when we get use to it we won't want any other kind. I'm still working out the kinks but if I find an easier way to do it I will definitely let you know! icon_biggrin.gif

I use my KA for making all my BC.

Cream everything first, then add the powdered sugar while on 2 or 3, via waxed paper, parchment or whatever. And no more mess. I'm not wild about the less wide bowl either, but it beats what I had before, which is nothing.

If my Pro model breaks down, at least it will be from being used.

I LOVE MY KA. WHEN MAKING BUTTERCREAM ICING PUT A TOWEL OVER THE MIXING BOWL. THAT CUTS DOWN ON THE POWDERED SUGAR MESS. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BAKING!

Great hubby! I also had a room full of powder everytime I baked.....so now I take a clean kitchen towel and lay it down with the long side on top. I grab the two top corners and use a rubber band to tie them together. I dampen the whole towl and drape it over the top of the kitchen aid. It fits perfectly and no more flying sugar.

Before I add sugar, I always stop the machine and lift the top up, add the sugar, and before I turn it on again, I scrape the bowl and attachment with my spatula, trying to cover the sugar. By doing that and with the towel, there is never a mess.

My DH called my friends who own a cake supply store about getting me a air brush system for V-Day. Well when he heard the price he said he'd wait till later this year. He can't keep a secret so he told me the whole story! I could have killed him! LOL! The thought was there though! I told him to get me a "red" whistle instead because I can't raise my voice loud enough to get the attention of the kids on my school bus! He'll probably get that red whistle! LOL!! Better then nothing! LOL!! Hubbies gotta love them!!

I have two KA and love them. Can't afford a commercial mixer right now. But to add ingredients and prevent the powder sugar from flying out of the bowl KA makes a shield for all of their models. Works great! icon_smile.gif
