LOL I like my title. icon_biggrin.gif

Well to start off this might sound really dumb ,but i really need some help. I can't seem to get the shell border down at all. Whatsoever. I avoid it alot with some other border types or i just don't put a border on ,but i really want to get the shell border down. I don't know why i'm having such trouble?

I've tried following every picture, video, and artcle exactly and i cannot get it! It's really frustrating me because i've been trying for a while and not one little shell has come out right. icon_cry.gif

One thing my teacher told me was to not move the tip in the direction(like back and forth movement) let the icing roll on itself then move as the required shell is made. Don't know if this makes sense to you but it did when we were in class.

The way I describe it to my students is the tip is at 6:00. squeeze SLIGHTLY lift the tip keep squeezing letting the icing fan out (this will make the icing form the shell) pull back towards yourself easing off your pressure stop pull away. You don't want to actually form the wave. By squeezing and letting the icing fan out a little the icing does the work. Hope that helps.

consistency is also crucial. too soft - and it doesn't fan. too hard - and it plops out. medium is the way to go. just like goldilocks thumbs_up.gif
good luck and let us know about your success!

Thanks guys! I'm trying! I got those icing pratice boards so i'm doing it over and over. Cakinqueen its funny because i read your directions and processed it backwards so my tip was at 12 o' clock in stead of 6 but its working for me LOL! I also found using a large star tip works better for me. icon_biggrin.gif

Hey whatever works. My students laugh at me all the time when I tell them little things to reember when they are decorating. But it sticks with them and works! GladI could help a little.

Cakinqueen and Cashley describe it well. Let the icing do the work for you. I think a lot of people go wrong in that they want to move their hands/bag back and forth to form the shell. Best to hold the bag still while you squeeze the icing out and then pull once the shell has started forming.

Just keep pluggin' away and it'll click.
