I am looking to start a cookie business, but where do i start? I am looking into renting a kitchen, but should I get insurance first? Do I get a business name first? Where do I begin?

I guess I would check with the requirements in your state first. if you have to rent a kitchen I advise that you start trying to find one first. When I was looking it took a long time in my area. Also though, they were all pleased to see that I have already a quote from my insurance company. I also included a minimal business plan to outline what I intended to do with my business, what I expected from them and what they could expect from me. I also bribed them with some cookies@ icon_biggrin.gif

I think you should decide on the business name first. So you can say so in so from so and so is calling to rent a kitchen. Then you would file for the business license in your state and then get the license form the dept in your state that does that.

Good luck and if you would liek a sample doc...let me know..

How does one go about finding a kitchen to rent? Would you just contact all the local restaurants?

I called fire halls. churches, lions clubs, and grange halls. It is best if they already have a commercial license that way it is easier for you to get approval.
