There is one in my photos I did for a birthday (bloody mary in her hand per DH request), the figures are from a sculpy mold and the palm tree was a blast to make.

I'm doing a Hawaiian shower and instead of cake, I'm doing individual cupcakes with hibiscus flowers (fondant) on them. I go the idea from Cambo on here...you can see the picture in her gallery. They look beautiful, but simple to make. HTH.

Check out my pics - I did a shower cake with that theme - it was super easy and can be adapted to feed any size.

One of the signature drinks of Hawaii is a Lava Flow--basically a pina colada with strawberry puree. That combo would be great for the flavors of the cake! As far as the design of the cake...if you're looing for an elegant cake, I would go with a tiered fondant cake with either a small pineapple border around the tiers, or orchid, hibiscus, or plumeria accents. For a more fun cake, think surf boards, rainbows, hawaiian print shirts, hula girls, etc... You could actually make a really cute hula girl cake in the doll-cake-style...where you have the cake base as a skirt, and a plastic doll top? Or I suppose you could do a fondant girl top, if you were that good! icon_smile.gif And of course, don't forget to include Aloha--love--in your cake! icon_smile.gif I lived in Hawaii for several years, and LOVE all things Hawaiian, sorry for the info dump! lol Do a Google search for Hawaiian theme cakes, you'll find TONS of great ideas! icon_smile.gif Good luck!!!

Please forgive me if that "if you were that good" line came across sounding insulting!!! I didn't mean it that way, was just sort of typing before I fully formed all of my thoughts. I just meant that I don't know your skill level--I would not yet be able to make a person out of fondant, if you're that skilled I think it would look great! icon_smile.gif
