Cookie Bouquet Questions

I'm planning on making a cookie bouquet for my Manager and his wife as they are expecting a little girl in June. My question is, do you bake the cookies with the sticks already in them? or do you insert the sticks after baking? Also how thick do you roll out the dough for cookies on a stick?

You bake the cookies with the sticks in them.I always make my cookies about 1/4 inch thick.You will need fairly thick sticks to hold the weight of the cookies.

Thanks. I'll be heading to AC Moore this weekend so now i know what to buy.

I just took a cookie bouquet class, she cut her cookies at just under 1/2 inch thick. Put the sticks in before had and baked them for 12 minutes on 375 they were huge cookies like 4" circle. She put like 5 3"-4" cookies in a 5" clay pot with tissue paper and styroform to hold the sticks. She used wooded sticks. Good Luck

I think it can be done either way. I've made cookie bouquets without the sticks in them while they baked, and inserted the sticks while they were still hot. It's always worked just fine.

Hi Erin,
Some people insert the sticks before baking and some don't. I prefer to insert them immediately after I take them from the oven, while they are still very hot. I using rolling pin rings (the 3'8" one) and use 3/16" dowels! Works perfect every time!
