Hello everyone!! I have 2 question, I will be making my friend wedding cake, i need to know how many tiers i will need to make, she will be having 180 guest !!!
The other question that I have is relating the cake separator plates, she doesn't want the cake stacked (i wish she did) she want small separation in betwen tiers and flowers in betwen and she doesn't want to see the borders of the cake plate/separator. How do I do that?? It came to my attention tha the squares separators plates are 2" larger that the cake pans, I will have to trim the cake to fit the plate?? (please somebody tell me i wont LOL)

Thank you sooooo much!!! icon_eek.gif [/img]
To serve 180, you will probably need to make 16-12-8 or 14-10-8-6 if you use ~4" tiers.

To separate, try the columns that push all the way through the cake. They are extremely stable and can be cut to any height with a saw or knife. (Be sure to cut the bottom and not the top of the column) Pfeil & Holing has them at pretty good prices. You buy plates separately and columns a dozen at a time. http://www.cakedeco.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=7485&p_catid=266&page=1

Push the column set into the cake and leave it. The upper tier should be placed on a nice strong square board a little larger than the cake. You can use the slightly smaller round plates and they won't show under the board when you put it all together. You can do the flowers under the separators before you take it. You should transport all the cakes unstacked and add the last border to cover the boards after you assemble it.

HTH! Good luck
