Hello everyone,
I have been asked to make an ocean themed baby shower cake. I would like to add sea weed to the side of the cake, however I'm unsure was to what tip to use. Would it just be the leaf tip? Also, do you all think I should make them with royal icing? Any tips/ideas would be helpful. Thank you.

We use the small leaf tip all the time for decorating the sponge bob cakes (has seaweed on it) just drag it a little farther than you would for a normal leaf. You can use the large leaf tip too.

You could use the 233 I think it is, to make it stringy like grass is, if you wanted to, too. You don't need royal, just make a thicker buttercream.

I use my leaf tip (67) to make seaweed. Sometimes I pipe them right onto the cake with buttercream, but if I need the seaweed to stand upright, I make them with royal icing ahead of time. It's very hard to see in this picture, but I made these seaweeds ahead of time since I had to make the fish etc ahead, too. Plus the seaweed sticks up past the top of the cake layer. Sorry this is the only picture I have to show you...
