Has anyone transported a cake on a plane? I live in Maryland and will be travelling to New York for a bridal shower. I am debating on whether or not to take the cake or just order one there. I am not checking my bags as I am only staying for the weekend so I will have my carry on + the cake. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Debbie

Hmmmm, I would bake the cakes and then ice at your destination...also call the airline and see what they have to say because techinically all carry on has to fit under the seat or in the overhead compartment... I would hate to have something you worked hard on get squashed by other people and/or their luggage.

Good idea. Thanks! I'll start with the airline!

Did you see the cake challenge show where Collette Peters had put her cakes in the luggage and it didn't show up? It finally came through on the next flight, but until then she and her assistant were pretty worried they would have to start over and bake cakes the night before the competition. She called her home bakery for the recipes, too!

Blessings,

I actually brought the top layer of my wedding cake back with me from Kansas where we got married. I just carried it on and had no problem with it on the plane. Depending on the size, it should fit under the seat with no problem.
