Is it possible to spray paint MMF with those food color sprays by Wilton... the ones that come in the cans? Would it make the MMF sticky or something else weird? Thanks!

Hi!

I think you might be better off using an airbrush. I have used the sprays before and find that they are really hard to control. Also...the last cake I used it on...the color wanted to drip. I did not use it on fondant...but I am thinking it might drip worse on fondant.

Somebody else might know better! icon_smile.gif

I have only tried on buttercream and its hard to get even. I have to try it a little on fondant this next weekend (I don't have quite enough saved up for my airbrush yet...!) but its just on a dragon with scales so if its uneven that's ok, I'll probably use a paintbrush with more colors anyway.

Its not very even though, and it sprays EVERYWHERE too!

kitagirl...

The airbrush system is the next thing on my list! I think you will be fine with your design on the dragon. I know what you mean that it seems to just spray everywhere! When I used it I had traces of the spray on the countertop and the floor! icon_biggrin.gif

Me too for sure! I recently got an edible image system and now am saving up for my next "toy".

Do you think it would work if I wanted to cover the whole cake in one color?

I'm the opposite, I have the airbrush and desperately want the edible image.

Seems like everytime I get ready to buy one, something unexpected comes along and I have to use the money else where icon_cry.gif

I am not sure how even it will be....

I used the cake spray on this cake http://www.cakesbysuzy.com/superman.JPG and it was my first time, you can see what you think about how it looks. (I had put cardboard clouds and sprayed around them)

It is VERY hard to keep the color even, but I guess it might be with an airbrush too...???

I used the sprays before I got my airbrush and it would work...it just might not go on evenly. It's hard to get it to not look splotchy but it can be done.

I did the bill the cat in my profile with the sprays in a can and used lots of paper towels to mask off what I didn't want sprayed.

my husband sprays my cakes with the spray when I need them since he's worked with the spray in his business. Haven't had a problem yet. Perfect everytime.
