Well, tonight I did my first sculpted cake, its actually the top of a 3 tier birthday cake for my moms boss. (She works at a furniture store!) I was so excited at how it turned out. Im waiting for it to firm up so I can dust some of the cornstarch off.

However, as I was getting the 3 kids off to bed, (holding the 6month old) I slipped on a hardwood floor full of powdered sugar and probably who knows what, crisco, butter, cornstarch!! icon_redface.gificon_cry.gif My feet were literally in the air above my head and I landed on my lowerback/rear end. OMG talk about excruciating pain. My poor kids, I screamed and then starting crying. They were scared too death. The baby was FINE!!! (protecting him made it a bad fall) DH is at work, I should be in bed but needed to get it out, hope ya'll dont mind.
Still proud of my chair, for a first time!!

BTW, dear sweet mom sympathized, listened to me cry, and tried to politely say "You can finish the cake tomorrow right?" sheesh icon_rolleyes.gificon_cry.gif

oh dear! I surely hope you didn't seriously hurt yourself..talk about "blood, sweat and tears."

Your cake is lovely...looks like a comfy leather couch! Love the addition of the throw.

Alright I finished the cake. Should have stayed in bed but I knew tomorrow would be way worse!! I think I did pretty well considering I could hardly move icon_sad.gif I had a lot of trouble with my buttercream tonight, think it might be the dryness in my house!! Let me know what you think!

Snicker! That's adorable! Great job despite your injury. Be sure to see a doctor if you are in too much pain tomorrow! Tail bones and pelvises aren't too difficult to fracture if you land just right! How scary for you, glad the baby is ok!

I love the leather look. I just posted a chair I did for a little girl. I wish I had seen your cake first. It was my first time with MMF, so I certainly could have used some pointers on how you did yours. It looks great!

I hope you start to feel better soon!

You guys are all very sweet! I really dont feel to bad this morning. Unfortunately DH is having a superbowl get together so I've got to do some cleaningicon_sad.gif Oh well, the advil is helping out!!

My mom loved the cake. Hopefully everyone at her work will keep me in mind in the future!!

KittisKakes I love your cake. You did a great job on that chair!!
BTW one quick question, I didn't charge my mom except supplies for this cake, but what would ya'll charge?? Just curious. The chair was easy, but kind of time consuming. (a lot of steps)

How big were the tiers? The time and the size will have an effect on the price.

Oh poor thing! I hope you're feeling better...you should go to the docs and get an x-ray done as these injuries take a while to surface...if they go unattended they will haunt you forever!

If it serves of some consolation, as the others have said, your cake is absolutely gorgeous and well done. That chair is unbelievable for your first try! Keep up the good work! I also love the color combination...Modern and masculine as well as the overall design of the cake...
