Here's my disaster, sort of. I have a cake due Saturday, so was planning to bake this morning and finish up with the little fondant figures to go on top. Got up this morning put the cake in the oven and went to work on the fondant. All was well. Took the cake out, looks great and so I let it cool. Around 1:00 pm, went to wrap it up and looked at it and realized that I had baked a chocolate cake. I was supposed to be making a yellow cake!!! To make matters worse, I only had 2 eggs left and was waiting for the Maytag man to come. I took a chance and ran to the corner store, got eggs and came home to start over.
I'm trying to figure out what the heck I am going to do with this huge cake, so I used the left over batter from the yellow cake to make 2 sports balls. Then I made my first ever batch of Marshmallow fondant. So,
tomorrow, I will be doing a practice cake for one I have an order for in a couple of weeks. That worked out good, since I wanted to do a practice cake anyway. I'm going to take the finished cake to work and hopefully it will generate some business.
So, alls well that ends well. I'll report back on my results with the fondant
experiment!!

Can't wait to see the results. It's nice that you can make lemonade out of lemons, even tasty chocolate lemons.
I usually end up turning the disasters over to my daughter to handle. She is 5 and loves the practice. Actually, she's much better at stars than I am these days. LOL! It works out when I just do a cake for me to decorate and one for her. That way we have some mom/daughter time and she gets to have some fun and yummy fun at that.
Seems like you turned that around well. I hope that you will get some orders from the accidental chocolate cake!
