Hi, I just found a place with lots of cake ideas, including a Princess party and cake.
Go to:
http://familyfun.go.com/parties/birthday/feature/famf1001_princessbday/

(if I knew how to make a link I would, but I don't, so just copy and past into your address line.)

This is a Disney website, you can sign up for Family Fun emails, that's how I found these cakes. There are all kinds of ideas for cakes here, but the princess cake castle was pretty good. Here's a picture.

I'm printing some of them, and putting them into a notebook for reference later on! Janice

See, you did fine with the link....one thing about family fun, it gives lots of ideas, but it takes people like us to make them better....I see cheap looking cakes and thats great when you want to do something as a family, but I find that I want spectacular for birthday parties and such...and thats where I go astray....my creativity leaves alot to be desired. That castle cake is awesome, but I lack the ideas of making it better looking.... Family fun has a book too...I seen it, looked through it and seen alot of cute cakes, but I CANT MAKE THEM BETTER, and doing the cake the way it is ISNT GOOD ENOUGH for me....am I horrible or what?

No, of course you're not horrible! I know what you mean about what to do from here, if you can't make it better than somebody else does, why do it? On this castle, I guess all you could do is put in windows, maybe make a princess hanging out one of the windows, something like that.

I have a chocolate oval two-layer cake sitting here and some already colored icing on hand, and I can't figure out what I want to put on it, and I need to practice! Maybe the problem is that I need to practice too many things and can't focus on any of them. Also, don't have any special need for the cake...and I'll probably wind up eating it if I don't get some decorations on it and find somebody to give it to!

I think the Family Fun has some pretty good basic ideas, we do just have to make them better though. They have a couple in there right now to make a pink pony head and a horse's head that look pretty good, that precious pony character pan is going for $$$ right now on eBay, might be a good substitute for a horse-lover! Can you believe the prices some people are willing to pay for those pans? I just bought a Texas pan and a Blues Clues together for $20-something, and THAT was a good deal, one of the Texas pans just sold for at least $17.50 by itself (that's what it was the last time I looked). icon_lol.gif

I just posted another photo in the sports section, if you get a chance to look at it. Your pictures of your home and crafts are great, I enjoyed seeing them. Would love to have a face to put with the name (Kandi, right?) when you get those ready. Janice

Wow, if I had a pony pan I'd be selling it on eBay too! I'm just not willing to pay that much for any of them either!

Thanks for the kind words on my cake, I'm just starting out, and that one gave me nightmares!
This website is the best, as are all the people who contribute to it, I have learned so much already, and somebody is always willing to help when you have a question or a problem! Janice
