My son has decided he wants a pirate ship cake for his 4th birthday, and I was wondering if any of you have pics and/or tips that you'd be willing to share. I've done a web search and found instructions for using 2 9in cakes, cut in half and sandwiched together and though it's a cute cake, I'd really like something with more demension.

Thanks!
Rigama

I found a ton of ideas using Yahoo Image search. I did a search using "pirate ship cake" and also "pirates cakes", both popped up lots of images for inspiration. I've been dying to make one of these types of cakes too. Can't wait to see yours.

Go to the Theme cakes gallery under fantasy/gothic/fairytail. There are a lot of pirate cakes in there.
I'm sure if you PM one of the ladies/gents that did them they'll give you directions.

Good luck!

I made this one by making to 11x9 cakes and one in a loaf pan cut in half. I ran out of time on the railing so it is horrible. My 5 year old loved it and that was all that mattered.
