Since ganache has heavy cream in it, does it need to be refrigerated in cool weather?

Thanks

I refridgerate my ganache covered cakes until about an hour or so before serving so the icing has time to soften.

I was going to use the ganache as filling and buttercream icing. I'm making 8 6 inch round cakes for a valentine's dinner. Each table get a cake and so I don't have refrigerator space for all the cakes.
