Just to let everyone know that the last box of Softasilk cake flour I purchased had with it a coupon for a one year subscription to American Cake Decorating for only $18 US and $24 Canada which is a VERY good price. I think it's usually $30 US. Anyone who doesn't have a subscription may want to check it out.
It's a great magazine, but expensive since it's not published in huge numbers. icon_biggrin.gif

I like it, but not at $30 a year. My subscription is about up and I'm going to let it lapse, then sign up again at the special rate.
Some issues are better than others, but overall I DO recommend it! It's a great way to enhance your knowledge and there are things there that I don't find other places... techniques and such.
If it's within your budget, I say it's worth adding to your library.

I have a box of the Softasilk Flour and on the back is a coupon to cut out and it says for web orders use this code ...

I doubt if they have a special code on each box so if you want to try and use it to get the $18 rate by purchasing through their web site, try this out.

The code is SAS34

Hope this helps!

If you don't already have it get the Wilton 2006 yearbook. It's a good one. Lots of cool cake ideas and many techniques. : ) If you live near a Michael's or Hobby Lobby watch for coupons. You might be able to save 40 or 50% making it a great buy!

im really getting sick of the wilton yearbooks myself though. it really is the same thing over and over in their magazine.( or they're tring to sell their products.) the older ones had alot of cakes though and you can go on ebay to get those.
i've never had the american cake decorating mag but thanks to y'all and the coupon i hope to soon... thanks thumbs_up.gif [/quote]

Does anyone know where I can buy an issue? I'd like to try it out before I commit to a subscription. I found the coupon on my last box of Softasilk, too! I've checked every book and craft store in the Pittsburgh area and can't find it anywhere.

I've tried finding it too, but never had any luck. You can sometimes find past issues on Ebay, but once you've paid for shipping they aren't always a great buy. You might check it out though. : )
Also, American Cake Decorating Magazine will allow you to buy a single issue (back issues)... I think they're $5 or $6 a piece.

Can anyone tell us how long it took to get your first issue after signing up online? I unforunately ordered my subscription two weeks ago, before this code was posted. But I would like to know how long I will be waiting to recieve my first issue.

I almost subscribed this mag from the net a couple of weeks ago but for some reason i didn't check out. I'm sure glad I didn't! Thanks mjsparkles2001 for the code! thumbs_up.gif

I started buying ACD in 1998 but stopped because it was hard to find. I treasure my copies as they are full of inspiration. It shows different levels of skills and techniques of cake decorating. Now I'm looking forward to receiving my copy..I just hope that it won't take too long!

Can't recall when I first ordered, but it seemed to take about three months before my first issue arrived. I originally ordered through Amazon.com, so I don't know if that was what made the process go so slow, or if this is typical. I remember that it took so long to get my first issue that I eventually emailed American Cake Decorating Mag and asked if everything was ok with my order.
