Congratulations!!!! Babies are a wonderful blessing and so much fun...AND WORK! I have a 5 year old girl and a 9 month old boy. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was so excited, couldn't wait and So SCARED...I had only babysat a 2 year old 2 different times in my life so I wasn't sure what to expect. Every little thing I was on the phone with the hospital nursery, the Dr, or of course my mom. So the only advise I will give you is get your rest, eat healty, WALK, and Enjoy being a Mommy to be!!! I'm so happy for you and your husband. Everyone has mentioned the What to expect books but one book ever Mommy to Be should have is Chicken soup for the expectant mother's soul. You'll laugh, Cry, and just feel a lot of the same things that other pregnant mommies feel.

Hi everyone!
I am so greatful for all of the support. You all are great. I still just can't get over it, ME pregnant. I know it will sink in soon enough. I do not know where to start or what I need to be doing right now. I know I have almost nine months but it will be here before I know it.
I would like to know where to get the "girlfriends guide to pregnancy" book.
It sounds interesting. I need all the help I can get.
You just have to know me, but I am the baby in my family and I never was sure that I would ever be a mommy. I guess I am just a little, well no, ALOT scared!

moUse: I have the digital camera covered. It is the greatest thing for pictures. It is the Minolta Dimage with a 3 or 4 megapixel. I can't wait to take my baby's first picture with it.

chixbaby27: I am glad you told me you like Polly. I have never seen her before. I hope I like her too. Does she take a lot of time with you?

Carrie,

Congrats!!! I've been lurking for a bit and this seems like a grand occasion for my first post!!!

I have a 5 year old and one on the way in October!! My biggest piece of advice for you right now is REST as much as you can!!! Over the next few weeks you are going to be more tired than you ever felt possible!!! I'm almost 12 weeks and just now regaining energy!! Enjoy every moment knowing that there is a sweet little angel forming inside you!! I agree with the books that have been reccomended, I read the What to expect books with my son and I read the girlfriends guide this time and both are helpful in very different ways!!!

It's great that you have a midwife, I agree that they take more time with you and are more caring, I'm using a midwife & a doula this time and I am much happier with them than I was with my Doc!!!

About where to get the books, any bookstore should have them plus you might even be able to pick them up at Wal Mart.

Again Congrats!!!!!

Karla

icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif This posting is making me tear up!! All of your sweet advice!! I have two (3 1/2 and 18 months) and I want another. I have the baby blues bad!!! My husband doesn't want anymore. Enjoy every minute with that little one and enjoy the miracle inside of you!!! It is the most common miracle in the world!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking of drugging my husband on wine or cake this summer and making #3 on my own. Oh yeah, my piece of advice with the first one is....relax, the baby will eventually sleep through the night!!! You will become normal again and yet you will never be the same again!!!! icon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gif

Congratulations! Best wishes to you both and my prayers are with you as you take another journey of three instead of two. The first journey of husband and wife, which is two and if there is no twins, then it would be a journey of three. Keep us posted on your journey and eat plenty of twinkie cakes. icon_smile.gif

It is such a miracle to be bringing a new life into the world. I wish you all the happiness you can stand! I am a mom of three, 8, 4 and 9mos, and its the best thing ive ever done, although the hardest. I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy, and a healthy happy baby at the end. Best wishes to you and your family.

I have to jump on the bandwagon here in offering my congratulations! I have a 3yo daughter, and a 2yo son (they are only 1 yr & 11 days apart). They both bring me so much joy! I always thought that I only wanted girls, but my son is such a blessing to me. So, keep your mind open to either gender!
My extra recommendation beyond the already listed readings, is to go to babycentral.com and sign up for the weekly emails. It is so fun, and a nice supplement to the 'What to Expect..." (<-which is awesome, I have the 'Expecting', the '1st Year' and the 'Toddler Years'.)

Keep us posted on your progress! I love to hear all of the wacky cravings stories! icon_wink.gif

Congratulations!!!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about a dear freind of mine's Completely BRILLIANT maternity invention!
www.bellysock.com

It's a kind of "tube top" for your pregnant belly, a "Belly Sock"
Of course she has spent months and months engineering the actual shape of it, so its not just a band of material. I have been telling all of my pregnant friends about it. And they are all going crazy for it! It's almost a necessity for us!

It's great to wear during the begining of your pregnancy and just leave your regulare jeans unzipped underneath it. You can wear it pretty much to your full term, it covers your belly when those "tent" maternity shirts start riding up and showing your skin.

It's also perfect for after pregnancy when you are nursing. It allows you to wear any shirt over it, so you can just lift your shirt up to nurse without having to expose your "post prengant" belly.

Her name is Deborah,
Give her a call and tell her Jackie sent you, she is absolutely wonderful.

It's been a while since I saw her (my boys are almost 6 and 3), but she must have taken her time, otherwise I wouldn't remember liking her. icon_smile.gif Did you go to school here? I graduated from Pepperell in 95.
